Just 200km north of Sydney lies the idyllic coastal region of Port Stephens. The area’s natural beauty makes it the perfect escape destination…. pristine waterways, golden sandy beaches, majestic sand dunes, resident dolphins, visiting whales, unspoilt national parks and
a hinterland.
The huge natural harbour with its crystal clear blue water is home to about 160 Bottlenose Dolphins. In fact, Port Stephens is renowned as being the Dolphin Capital of Australia and cruise boats visit the dolphins daily.
From May to November the vessels venture a little further to witness one of natures truly magnificent spectacles, the giant whales that pass so close to the Port. This is one of the best places for whale watching.
The awe inspiring coastal sand dune system stretches for 32km and is the most amazing playground or getaway. The almost surreal landscape is the perfect setting for exploring by 4WD, sandboarding, cantering on a horse along the surf line or simply taking in the spectacular desert scenery, especially on sunrise and sunset.
The natural beauty doesn't stop there though. From the scenic coastal views along Tomaree National Park, koalas lazing in their trees on the Tilligerry Peninsula, meandering rivers around Raymond Terrace and the intriguing hinterland, mother nature has truly excelled.
Combine all the natural beauty, the adventure, the eco-activities with a veritable host of other things to do plus an a range of accommodation options second to none and you will see why Port Stephens is known as a 'Blue Water Paradise'
