Information about Cooma: Cooma is the main town in the Snowy Mountains. It developed on the back of the gold boom, became a major tourism destination and was later made the headquarters for the Snowy Mountains scheme. Its heritage buildings include Christ Church of England, Cooma (1845) which is one of the oldest buildings in the Monaro, the Cooma Post Office (1877), the Cooma Hotel (1862), the impressive Cooma Courthouse (1889) and the Lord Raglan Hotel (1854).
