Shoalhaven Holidays

SOUTH COAST NSW

Shoalhaven on the South Coast of NSW, just 2 hours from Sydney

The Shoalhaven is blessed with some of the most scenic indscapes on the east coast of Australia, from the lush Jinforests of Kangaroo Valley to the miles of exquisite eaches along its eastern boundary. Stretching from Berry in the north to Durras in the south, our temperate climate is comfortable all year round, with balmy sea breezes to cool in summer and clean crisp air for long country walks in winter.

We have over 300,000 hectares of national parks and state forests, 109 beaches and 49 towns and villages with the main centres being Nowra, Jervis Bay and Ulladulla.

The rugged terrain of the hinterland offers adventure for bushwalkers, climbers and canoeists. Or, if quiet relaxation is your perfect holiday, you can throw in a line at one of the hundreds of fishing spots such as Sussex Inlet, explore the many historic landmarks that dot the Shoalhaven or wander around the dozens of craft and antique shops.

To tempt the tastebuds there are restaurants and cafes boasting a smorgasbord of the fresh produce for which Shoalhaven has become famous with a vast range of cuisines from traditional Australian To many international menus.

Our fresh produce is bountiful and locally farmed and harvested, including delectable seafood, market gardens producing top- quality fruit and vegetables, wine, dairy produce, coffee and olive oil, all making a dining experience one to remember. Try succulent oysters from Greenwell Point, lobsters from Currarong or fresh fish from Ulladulla - just some of the seafood harvest that abounds in the Shoalhaven.

For night-time fun you can join the laughter of a theatre restaurant, enjoy the entertainment of the many hotels and clubs or rage to the wee small hours at a nightclub.

Rich in local culture, our many annual festivals have become landmarks on the getaway calendar. Winter is the time for our Shoalhaven Coast Wine Festival and several arts festivals that are gaining a solid reputation for their high standards. We have many vineyards within our boundary - some with cellar doors open to the public and local tours make a wine-tasting weekend a great idea.

Our two main arts festivals are Escape Artsfest, held every year, and See Change, held every second year and incorporating the much-loved 'little Archies' exhibition (named with a nod to the Archibold Prize). Aside from this, we have some popular festivals including the Blessing of the Fleet at Ulladulla, the Scarecrow Festival and the Milton Settlers Fair as well as music, kite and garden festivals
