Information about Childers:
Childers is a well-preserved historic town on the main road between Brisbane and Bundaberg. Once dependent on sugarcane, the local council has done much to promote Childers as 'The National Trust Town'. The centrepieces of Childers' charm are the Childers Pharmaceutical Museum and the Olde Butcher Shoppe both of which are specialist museums where the history of particular trades can be explored. Also of interest are the Soldiers Room Memorial, the Childers Historical Complex in Taylor Street , Isis Central Mill and Woodgate National Park. Excellent cottage accommodation can be had at Childers.
