36 Matilda Hwy Blackall QLD 4472

Information about Blackall: Blackall is an attractive and interesting Western Queensland town with trees down the centre of the main street, lots of old-style pubs and a casualness which is in keeping with its location. Blackall claims to be the home of the original 'Black Stump' and the statue outside Tattersalls Hotel commemorates the occasion when Jackie Howe blade shore 321 sheep in 460 minutes at Blackall in 1892, a world record not beaten until electric shears were introduced. Also of interest are the Blackall Wool Scour and the important Black's Palace Aboriginal artefacts. Blackall has some fine rural accommodation.
