Information about Stanthorpe:
Stanthorpe is a remarkably pretty town set in the middle of a rich, mixed farming area. Located on the New England Highway, 56 km north of Tenterfield, Stanthorpe is the centre of a thriving wine area which is also noted for its orchards, gemstones and gem fossicking. The beautifully situated Stanthorpe Historical Museum includes a shearer's hut (1842) and other well-preserved historical buildings. However, the chief attractions of Stanthorpe are the large granite outcrops located in Girraween National Park and Sundown National Park. Cottage and homestead accommodation can be enjoyed by visitors to Stanthorpe.
