Information about Gympie: Gympie is a large and rambling township built around a once-successful gold mine which saved Queensland from looming financial ruin, hence earning it the title 'Gympie: The Town that saved Queensland'. Today Gympie is the centre of the Mary River Valley agricultural district. Gympie has two superb tourist attractions which should not be missed: The Gympie Gold and Mining Museum and The Woodworks Forestry and Timber Museum.
