CORINNA WILDERNESS RETREAT

Corinna is your home in the wilderness - an oasis in the heart of the Tarkine Forest. Accommodation at the new wilderness retreats is built in the original style but with modern amenities. The cottages all back directly onto the Tarkine rainforest. They have their own verandas, fully equipped kitchens, rainwater tanks and heating. A stay in these cottages provides the feeling of living in a remote mining town - with home comforts. Each of the new wilderness retreats is named after a pioneer from the area.

All cottages have gas heating and bathrooms. The guest house boasts a beautiful log fire. While the cabins have a certain rustic external appearance, the experience inside is very modern. Comfortable beds, hot showers, gas fridges and modern cooking facilities mean that you are “at home in the wilderness at Corinna”. We are truly carbon neutral and minimize our footprint on this precious part of the planet.

The old miners’ cottages and the new wilderness retreats lie close to the hotel. The new Tarkine Hotel is a focal point for the Corinna community. Fine Tasmanian wines and beers are served. It also houses the wonderful Tannin restaurant, named after the tannin stained waters of the Pieman and its tributaries.

The Tannin restaurant serves lunch and dinner year round. Tannin offers excellent food using only the freshest local Tasmanian ingredients. Ocean trout and Atlantic salmon from Strahan, eggs and pepper berries from Waratah, red meat from Lapoigna farm at Wynyard, poultry from Sassafras and fruit and vegetables from the Derwent Valley. Tannin offers fine dining which is a tribute to the chefs in this remote location.

Corinna is an experience found nowhere else in the world.
