Information about Oatlands: The historic and beautiful township of Oatlands is located on the Midlands Highway between Hobart and Launceston. Oatlands has the usual array of modern facilities which blend successfully with the largest collection of pre-1837 buildings in Australia with 87 stone buildings in Main Street and 138 within the town boundaries. The major attraction at Oatlands is Callington Mill (1836). The Oatlands Courthouse was built by convict labour in 1829. Other buildings of interest are the Old Oatlands Gaol (1830), the White Horse Inn (1834) and the impressive Holyrood House (1840). Fine cottage accommodation can be enjoyed at Oatlands.
