Information about New Norfolk:
New Norfolk is fascinating. The richness and variety of its historic buildings and the gentle undulating countryside astride the Derwent River make this one of the most attractive areas in southern Tasmania. Mercifully New Norfolk has not been overdeveloped. The Oast House (1869), the superb 'Willow Court' asylum (1830-31), and Tasmania's oldest church, The Anglican Church of St Matthew in New Norfolk (1823), are all major attractions. Some 11 km upstream from New Norfolk is the tiny settlement of Plenty with its famous salmon ponds. Visitors to New Norfolk can also partake of some historic accommodation.
