Information about Kojonup:
Kojonup is located 256 km south of Perth. Although today Kojonup looks like a modern wheatbelt town its origins are amongst the oldest in Western Australia. Kojonup came into existence in 1837 when the surveyor Arthur Hillman was directed to a spring by the local Aborigines. Kojonup Spring is now rather tastefully presented complete with a neat bridge and a pleasant little pool. Near the springs are the Kojonup Military Barracks, built in 1845 by soldiers of the 51st Regiment. Around the corner from the Barracks is Elverds Cottage (1854). Fine accommodation is available on a working farm near Kojonup.
