Information about Tanunda: Located 70 km north-east of Adelaide, Tanunda is the cultural heart of the Barossa Valley. A large rural settlement with tree-lined streets Tanunda is totally surrounded by vineyards. Settled by German immigrants Tanunda continues to have a distinctly German feel with sausage shops, German bread shops, German-style restaurants and lots of wine. Of particular interest are the town's three Lutheran churches, Auricht's printing office (1855), the Tanunda Post Office Museum (1866), Barossa Kiddypark, the Kev Rohrlach Technology and Heritage Centre, the cooperages, Story Book Cottage and Whacky Wood, Mengler's Hill Lookout, fine accommodation and the many wineries.
