The friendliest isles

Pacific island destinations are at their most user-friendly in Fiji. The laid-back tropical lifestyle is immediately apparent from stepping off the plane at Nadi International Airport. Although Fijians were a warrior race in centuries gone by, they now welcome and embrace visitors with a genuine friendliness.

Fiji comprises 300 islands, only about one-third of which are inhabited. Most visitors focus on Nadi, their arrival point on the western side of the main island, Viti Levu. Resort properties are conveniently grouped near the city and along the coastal strip to the south.

Off the coast of Nadi, in the Mamanuca and Yasawa island chains, lies a collection of resorts. Some are exclusive and attract celebrities from around the world. Others range from small and intimate, pitched primarily as executive retreats and small meetings, to larger resorts perfect for medium-sized conference groups.

The large number of accommodation choice means that there's something for every meeting and every budget. A major attraction of Fiji for conference organisers is its moderate pricing in comparison with other Pacific destinations.

Outside the convention centres is where Fijian meetings really shine. Team-building programs can take over their very own tropical island, creating Survivor-style challenges that bring out the very best in corporate spirit.

Fiji is also known as a great place for families and many conference participants elect to bring spouses and children to share the experience and spend some leisure time with once their business is completed.
