waters of Port Stephens, conference groups

The
Shoal Bay Country Club Hotel opened in 1934 and quickly became a focal
point of the area. The tradition continues with its newest incarnation
as the Shoal Bay Resort and Spa. Opened in late 2002, accommodation includes
studios, one, two and three bedroom suites, self-contained apartments
and villas, and luxury penthouses.Resort facilities include two pools,
three bars, and four restaurants. The Whitesands Convention Centre is
a purpose-built facility that is revolutionising meetings in the Port
Stephens area. The largest meeting space is the Whitesands Room, which
can seat 350 people theatre style or 300 for banquets. Each meeting is
overseen by a dedicated conference co-ordinator.
The latest news at the Shoal Bay Resort and Spa is the outstanding success
of the $5.5 million Aqua Spa health and beauty centre. Facilities include
a 25 metre lap pool, three spa pools, a fully equipped gym, racquet ball
court, hairdresser, beauty salon and the Yon-Ka Treatment Centre.

The Waters
The northern shores of Port Stephens have a charming
village-like atmosphere with the central settlements being Tea Gardens
and Hawks Nest. The Ocean Side Hawks Nest has a range of accommodation
including motel units, suites, and one and two bedroom apartments.
Formerly known as the Hawks Bay Lodge, it was taken
over by the boutique Ocean Group in 2003. The Ocean Group currently has
two other properties, at The Entrance and Nambucca Heads. The Ocean Side
Hawks Nest is just 50 metres from the ocean.The Resorts Sandy Bay
Café & Restaurant is widely regarded as Hawks Nests best.
There are two conference rooms, the largest taking up to 90 people theatre
style.
