“spirit of the red centre”

Delegates dreaming of a unique convention experience are drawn to the heartland of Outback Australia.

The high technology business convention and exhibition centre – already host to national and international events – has pioneered a unique market since being opened by the Chief Minister for the Northern Territory Clare Martin during the Year of the Outback 2002 as the Territory’s first dedicated purpose-built convention centre.

The Alice Springs Convention Centre caters for groups ranging from small meetings of 20 people through to conferences of 1,000 delegates and expositions involving up to 3,000 visitors. The design is on a grid system for maximum versatility; the conference rooms can be rapidly reconfigured to cater for different events, exhibitions or workshops during a conference or to cater more intimately for smaller gatherings.

The Alice Springs Convention Centre offers international-standard
business facilities in a truly unique heritage destination.

The mix of business includes automotive product launches; Federal, Territory and Local Government meetings; educational groups; concerts; literacy; ecological; cultural and scientific bodies; trade; industry and financial; charity and religious associations; professional associations including engineering; medical and transport; as well as being supported by the Alice Springs community with weddings, Christmas functions, celebrations and balls.

In addition to having business facilities equal to the best anywhere in Australia, the Alice Springs Convention Centre will immerse people in the total experience of Outback Australia. Rather than being just another convention centre in a resort setting, the facilities will satisfy the expanding desire by Australian and international visitors to fully experience the centre of Australia’s unique culture and national history.

To provide a comfortable base for the exploration of its natural wonders as well as cater for business events on a national and international scale – Lasseters Hotel Casino adjacent to the Alice Springs Convention Centre, spent $A20 million to nearly double the number of top quality rooms to 140 and counting these and others within walking distance of the Convention Centre, there are now some 600 rooms available. In-house hotel facilities are grouped around the swimming pool and leisure areas. There are lifts available from ground floor to first floor upper level accommodation for easy access by guests.

Proving that business does not have to be boring to be efficient, the Alice Springs Convention Centre offers international-standard business facilities in a truly unique heritage destination about 1,600 kilometres from any major mainland Australian city. The Central Australian region is at the heart of the spiritual world of Australia’s Aboriginal people, whose history extends back between 50,000 and 200,000 years. It includes Australia’s largest monolith, the 3.6 kilometre long world-renowned Uluru/Ayers Rock which protrudes spectacularly 345 metres above the surrounding desert, changing hues with the times and moods of the day.
