A Place In The Sun

A cosmopolitan tropical destination perfect for
conference groups also has a nearby island playground.

Conference venues in Cairns and Port Douglas.

W ith the cosmopolitan charms of Cairns and the village-like appeal of Palm Cove and Port Douglas, the far north of Queensland has something for everybody. The entry point for the region is Cairns International Airport, just a ten minute drive from the centre of the city.

There’s much for conference groups to do in the area including venturing out to the Great Barrier Reef for scuba diving or snorkelling, or to the Daintree National Park, or even to partake in a spot of early morning ballooning in the Atherton Tablelands. The wide range of hotels and resorts in the region, together with the multi-award-winning Cairns Convention Centre, might make choosing a venue a little difficult but there’s something for every budget and every taste.

The Novotel Coralia Palm Cove Resort, with more than 40 hectares of grounds and numerous venue options, worked with the Outrigger Beach Club and Spa to procure the recent Foodworks conference, the largest ever seen in the area.

DEDICATION AND SERVICE

The key to delivering great events is the wide choice of venues and options at the Novotel Coralia Palm Cove Resort. These include the 1,000 seat Palm Cove Conference Centre, Figtree Hollow, an extendable Hoecker marquee, Livastonia Cascade (a bushland venue on-resort named after encircling native palm trees) and the glade-like Driving Range.

The Outrigger Beach Club and Spa is also attracting much attention in Palm Cove with its 220 guestrooms and suites including the Serenity Wing – a semi-private collection of 42 suites at the rear of the main resort.

The Sea Temple Resort and Spa is set to revolutionise the leisure and business market coming to Palm Cove. In total, there are 83 extravagant apartments with a combination of one, two, three and four bedroom apartments, as well as penthouses with rooftop gardens and spas and bures with individual plunge pools.

The Sea Temple has three meeting rooms plus a board room and outdoor area with a capacity for up to 135 delegates and their partners. The Sea Temple Resort and Spa at Palm Cove is the first in a series that will expand to include a Port Douglas property in mid 2005, followed by another in Cairns later that year.
