Only two hours' drive from Sydney and 2.5 hours' from Canberra, Coolangatta Estate is the site of the first European settlement on the South Coast of New South Wales, settled in 1822 by Alexander Berry and Edward Wollstonecraft. In 1971, major restoration work began to convert the old convict-built village into a self-contained complex. The Estate now comprises over 130 hectares including the village complex, with its spacious landscaped grounds and gardens, vineyards and wine-tasting, a nine-hole golf course, and surrounding rural countryside. Accommodation comprises 24 motel-style rooms and eight suites. There are three meeting rooms including the 230 square metre function room that can seat up to 180 people theatre-style or 150 for banquets. Within a short distance are all the leisure activities of the Shoalhaven district including swimming, boating, fishing and water skiing. |
