Barely 40 minutes outside Melbourne, via the Calder Highway, on the Macedon Ranges are the towns of Macedon and Woodend. Further along on the Midland Highway is Victoria’s Spa Country where, for more than 150 years, visitors have flocked to rejuvenate their health and mental wellbeing. There are some 70 natural springs in this region.

There are several new spa centres available although the oldest is the century-old Hepburn Spa Resort. The indulgences there include heavy mineral spa pools, flotation tanks and mineral water aerospa baths. The spa experience is just one of the reasons why conference delegates have been taking a greater interest.

Victoria is at its most tranquil in this area as well as being slightly mysterious. Hanging Rock, the backdrop for the book and subsequent film, is located there. The Mt Macedon wineries are renowned for their fine pinot noirs and chardonnays.

Throughout the Mt Macedon and Spa region, corporate meetings and conferences are taking a greater tourism role. Conference options are numerous and include the Glen Erin Vineyard Retreat, which has 27 luxury suites and 4 conferences rooms. The largest, the Vineyard Room, seats 200 people theatre style or for banquets. Other conference options includes Campaspe House and Cammeray Waters at Woodend and Lancemore Hill Conference Centre between Lancefield and Kilmore. At Hepburn Springs, The Springs Retreat is housed in an Art Deco era building which has a conference centre attached.
