beachfront meetingsA Sunshine Coast favourite gets an exciting new look.
Mention the name SURFAIR and youll find most people not only know where it is, but have great memories of the Sunshine Coast resort. For some, SURFAIR was their honeymoon location or regular family holiday destination. Whatever the occasion, the beachfront resort has been host to many happy holiday memories since opening its doors in 1971. The resort has been through many name changes, facelifts and reopenings since its grand opening as one of the Sunshine Coasts first tourist resorts back in the early 70s. All that is about to change with a massive redevelopment underway and set for completion by November 2004. This includes a complete refurbishment of the existing SURFAIR tower and the development of another two new resort towers offering 226 hotel rooms, apartments, penthouses, and multi-million dollar beach houses. The CENTRAL Group, a subsidiary of development and construction company The Pradella Group, has secured the management of the property. The CENTRAL Group General Manager Lindsay Prior said the old SURFAIR would be virtually unrecognisable by the time the new resort reopened. The new resort will host large conference facilities, and have a 60 metre lagoon-style swimming pool, gym, a range of food and beverage choices, resort shop and a day spa, Mr Prior said. SURFAIR will be the regions first 4½ star resort property with conference facilities second-to-none, boasting the very latest in high tech facilities catering for every corporate need. Superbly positioned conference rooms will afford pool and terrace views, excellent break-out areas and the space to handle small, medium and large groups. Meetings facilities will be anchored by the 246 square metre Beachfront Ballroom, capable of holding up to 250 people theatre style or 200 for a dinner dance. The Ballroom is divisible into two separate, soundproofed sections. A range of other meetings and function rooms will cater for groups of between 20 and 110 people. The opportunities for themed and outdoor dinners are endless thanks to the resorts unbeatable location just 100 metres from the beach. >> conference venues on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland Positioned midway along the Sunshine Coast, there are many who believe the pristine Marcoola Beach, on the very edge of SURFAIR, will become the new Noosa. It is perfectly located to take advantage of all of the Sunshine Coasts attractions and facilities and is conveniently located between two of the coasts premier golf courses, Twin Waters Gold Club and the Coolum Hyatt Regency Golf Club. SURFAIR staff can assist groups in organising anything from golf competitions to parasailing, a themed dinner on the sand dunes, to quiet cocktails by the lagoon. In addition to SURFAIR, The CENTRAL Group also currently operates two successful, centrally located, conference centre facilities in Brisbane under The Venues brand. These are The Bardon Conference Centre and Eagle Street Conference Centre. |
