Early last year, a second conference centre was opened, increasing the meeting capacity of the resort to 400 working delegates, whilst the addition of 20 Tree Top Terrace Suites increased the sleeping capacity of the resort to 750 people.
Also new to Rafferty’s, Murphy’s Bar was launched as an exclusive area for private pre-dinner drinks, casual dinners or themed dining experiences.

When asked why she thought the resort has been so successful, conference sales manager, Janelle Mackay, said that flexibility, location and diversity of experiences were three key factors. “As repeat business is so high at Rafferty’s, activity programs are constantly revised to ensure a new experience each visit,” says Mackay. “Secondly, as the resort is only a short 90 minute drive north of Sydney’s CBD, travelling time is minimal, allowing companies to maximise meeting time. Furthermore, being relatively secluded, delegates are in a captured environment, increasing productivity and opportunities for team bonding.”

The size and setting of Rafferty’s Resort Lake Macquarie makes outdoor teambuilding activities a popular option among conference organisers. After the business day is finished, delegates may relax beside one of the resort’s four swimming pools, play tennis, indulge in a massage or even try their luck at fishing from the jetty.
