>> Conference
& meeting venues on the Sunshine Coast

Whether choosing the beach communities that stretch from Maroochydore
and Caloundra in the south to the glamour of Noosa Heads in the north,
conference organisers will find all they need top-class facilities,
accommodation to suit all needs, and efficient venues.
The 4½ star, international-standard, full-service Ramada Pelican
Waters-Caloundra is set to become one of the leading conference venues
on the Sunshine Coast following its opening in December 2005. The hotel
has 114 suites and apartments, and is less than an hour north of Brisbane
and 40 minutes south of Noosa.
Ramada Pelican Waters-Caloundras general manager, David Brill, says
the new property is the perfect location for intimate gatherings,
weddings, major events for small groups, or conferences of up to 500 guests.
With outdoor terrace areas, separate pre-function entrance area, private
dining and board rooms, full catering facilities, wireless technology
and a business support centre, Ramada Pelican Waters-Caloundra has all
the necessary facilities. It also hosts a number of teambuilding and incentive
programs.
The hotels seven function rooms can combine into one large room,
with additional break-out rooms and smaller meetings rooms also available.
State-of-the-art audiovisual facilities are provided.
Function spaces extend outdoors to create a memorable backdrop for themed
events and gala dinners. The Function Lawn, alfresco-style Function Terrace
or lagoon-style swimming pool can all be used to host an impressive affair.
Other facilities include a restaurant and bar, lagoon-style pool and heated
lap pool, sauna, tennis courts, day spa, gymnasium and the 18 hole Greg
Norman designed Club Pelican Golf course.
Noosa
Blue Resort has won the Best Value Accommodation Award for 2005 in the
prestigious The Australian Travel and Tourism Awards, voted on by the
newspapers readers.

Resort general manager, Phillip Harding, says the awards are a wonderful
accolade, particularly important because they are selected by readers,
in an extremely competitive market.
Novotel Twin Waters Resort, which occupies a unique location where ocean
and river meet, had an outstanding 2005, with its conference sales team
posting record figures.
The resorts achievements are attributed in part to the launch of
The Wandiny (Aboriginal for meeting place) a year ago. Catering
for up to 1,000 delegates, it is the largest resort-based events facility
on the Sunshine Coast, offering complete black-out, vehicle access, wireless
Internet facilities, three-phase power and multiple TV outlets.
The resort also offers delegates many dining options, the Cirque Espace
dedicated circus school for teambuilding, a golf course, day spa and complimentary
water activities.

Off the coast, Kingfisher Bay Resort on World Heritage-listed Fraser Island
provides a destination with a difference for conference organisers. A
wilderness with easy access, Fraser Islands diversity of scenery
ranges from desert-like sand blows to lush rainforest, from sweeping beaches
to hidden lakes ringed by white sandy beaches.
Kingfisher Bay Resort turns this wonderland into a specialist conference
venue, where you can banquet under the stars, test your 4WD skills, play
team games, swim in fabulous Lake McKenzie, sail into the sunset on a
Champagne cruise or enjoy a bush-tucker barbeque around a campfire on
the beach.
