A Vital Cog in Melbourne’s Business Wheel

In an increasingly competitive business environment, the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC) stands out as a leading business institution.

The MECC attracts year-round meetings and events from the national and international markets, including corporate meetings – not only because its facilities are centrally located and versatile, but also because of the expert advice and attention given to each event.

The MECC has hosted more than 10,000 events since it opened 15 years ago and during this time, it has fostered a close working relationship with clients, suppliers, industry bodies and event planners to ensure each event’s objectives are met.

The MECC’s management and staff are responsive and dedicated professionals. Doing business with the centre is effortless for clients and even organisers, no matter how large, small or complicated an event may be.

Winner of every major industry award in Australia and overseas, the MECC exceeds expectations across all areas, including food and beverage services, event planning and audiovisual facilities.

The MECC also works cooperatively with industry bodies, including city hotels, to promote Melbourne’s comprehensive infrastructure.

The MECC includes a convention centre with a range of meeting spaces and Australia’s largest exhibition facility, offering 30,000 square metres of pillarless space.

It is located in the heart of Melbourne, within walking distance of 15,500 hotel rooms, restaurants, tourist attractions and entertainment options. The centre is easily accessible by public transport or vehicle. Melbourne’s International airport is only a 20 minute drive away.

With the MECC confirmed as a Commonwealth Games venue, there will be increased promotion of the centre, which will demonstrate its capabilities in staging one of the biggest events to be held in Victoria. The business events market will also get an insight into the centre’s versatility, products and services.

Later this year, a $400 million-plus project for a new convention centre located next to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre will get underway. The new venue will seat more than 5,000 delegates in plenary mode and add significant meetings space for smaller events.
