The event planner is spoilt for choice, with Cairns, Palm Cove and Port Douglas each providing a wealth of reasons they should host their event.

Cairns is the natural choice for the larger event, with plenty of hotel rooms, lots of restaurants and literally dozens of activities on offer every day. A multi-million dollar revamp of The Esplanade in Cairns has seen a beach and lagoon pool replace the sometimes unsightly mud flats.

Major attractions include the Tjapukai Cultural Park at Smithfield and the adjacent Skyrail operation which sweeps visitors along a 7 km gondola track through and above the rainforest canopy to the Kuranda Rainforestation, one of Cairns’ most enduring tourist attractions.

Palm Cove is home to an array of quality resorts and is distinguished for its low key appearance – no hotels are any higher than the tallest palm tree. There’s a great swimming beach and a pier where the giant catamarans sweep in to take visitors to the Great Barrier Reef.

Port Douglas is drop-dead gorgeous but hasn’t lost its relaxed Queensland appeal, despite the arrival of flash resorts and condominiums by the hectare. Four Mile Beach is just as lovely as it was before the celebrities, Heads of State and Royalty discovered it.

There are plenty of shopping opportunities, golf courses, pubs and bistros where your corporate guest or delegate can simply kick back from life in the fast lane for a while.
